21 January 2021

The official opening of the 5-day hybrid workshops in the project "Healthy lifestyles - we think globally, we act locally" was made by Krystyna Wróblewska, the Director of the PZPW in Rzeszów. Anna Huk, Member of the Board of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, was among the invited guests, who greeted the participants and trainers from the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The Superintendent of Education Małgorzata Rauch then took the floor. The workshop was presented by Dr Barbara Wolny, project coordinator and teacher-consultant of the PZPW Branch in Tarnobrzeg. The objectives of the workshop were presented by Mr. Jacek Adamowicz, project coordinator. The ceremonial beginning was followed by lectures within the introductory module on "Health education in the Norwegian school system and contemporary/civilisational threats to student health". The first lecture covered the topic of "Threats to health of children and young people in the context of civilisation diseases (overweight, bulimia, anorexia, cardiovascular diseases), which was presented by Jolanta Kilanowska, PhD - Norwegian trainer. The second lecture concerned the implementation of health education, health promotion and preventive health care in the Norwegian school system. This topic was presented by Ms Synne Westeng - a teacher and trainer in Norway.

 

22 January 2021

On the second day of the training, participants started working in two parallel groups:

1. Health and nutrition - Synne Westeng, Norwegian trainer (content-related support: Mariola Kiełboń, Regional Educational Authority in Rzeszów)

2. physical activity - Jolanta Kilanowska, PhD, Norwegian trainer (content support: Barbara Wolny, PhD, PZPW Tarnobrzeg Branch)

The teachers became familiar with how health education is implemented in a Norwegian school in the area of physical activity and healthy eating. As part of the workshop, participants, under the guidance of trainers, have developed sample solutions for the implementation of nutrition and physical education at school on the example of Norwegian schools. The developed recommendations will be implemented in schools in the Podkarpackie voivodeship in order to intensify the implementation of existing activities in the field of nutrition education and physical activity. During the workshop, teachers also presented examples of good practices in the implementation of nutrition and physical activity education at Polish schools, thus demonstrating the value of schools implementing the Health Promoting School programme.

 

25 January 2021

On the third day of training, participants continue to work in parallel groups:

1. Health and nutrition - Synne Westeng, Norwegian trainer (content-related support: Mariola Kiełboń, Regional Educational Authority in Rzeszów)

2. physical activity - Jolanta Kilanowska, PhD, Norwegian trainer (content-related support: Barbara Wolny, PhD, PZPW Tarnobrzeg Branch)

Day three of the workshop focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle in a Norwegian school. The teachers have learnt practical examples of how to implement the promotion of healthy eating and physical activity in Norwegian schools.  They developed educational projects on the basis of Norwegian programmes and projects to promote healthy eating and physical activity. The workshop participants were very interested in Norwegian projects focusing on physical activity in various seasons of the year according to the assumption "There is no bad weather, only bad clothes" and nutrition projects involving the promotion of healthy food "from seed to loaf" and "nothing must go to waste in the kitchen - minimising food waste".

 

27 January 2021 .

On the fourth day of training, participants continue to work in parallel groups:

1. Health and nutrition - Synne Westeng, Norwegian trainer (content-related support: Mariola Kiełboń, Regional Educational Authority in Rzeszów)

2. physical activity - Jolanta Kilanowska, PhD, Norwegian trainer (content-related support: Barbara Wolny, PhD, PZPW Tarnobrzeg Branch)

This day has been devoted to the subject of health prevention at Norwegian schools. As part of the introduction, the trainers have presented examples of activities implemented at Norwegian schools, aimed at counteracting and eliminating health threats to children and youth in the context of civilisation diseases. Next, based on Norwegian solutions, the participants in the training have developed programmes, projects and workshop scenarios for students and parents. Particularly noteworthy are programmes and projects promoting physical activity outdoors with the use of modern technologies and projects promoting the principles of healthy nutrition.

 

29 January 2021 .

A ceremonial summary of the 5-day hybrid workshops in the project "Healthy lifestyles - we think globally, we act locally" was made by Krystyna Wróblewska, Director of the PZPW in Rzeszów, who thanked the trainers, directors and teachers for their work on the training. Among the invited guests was Ewa Draus, Deputy Marshall of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, who expressed her great satisfaction with the implementation of the project in such difficult times of a pandemic. Ms Małgorzata Rauch, Superintendent of Education, then spoke, thanking the headmasters and teachers for their participation and for the educational materials developed to promote a healthy lifestyle among pupils.

The fifth day of the training was focused on the presentation of developed materials and presentation of good practice examples by selected schools implementing the "Health Promoting School" programme in the Podkarpackie voivodeship, i.e:

  • The Rev.Zdzisław Jastrzębiec Primary School no. 4 in Sanok;
  • Public Primary School no.9 in Stalowa Wola;
  • School Complex no. 3 in Rzeszów;
  • The Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński Primary School in Jadachy.

 

PhD Jolanta Kilanowska (Norwegian trainer) was the first to summarise the work of the "Physical activity" group, presenting consecutive days of work of headmasters and teachers within the workshop. The effect of the group's work are developed programmes, projects, and scenarios for the promotion of physical activity on the basis of solutions implemented in Norwegian schools:

1. The educational project entitled "School in the fresh air"; 

2. The educational project entitled "Leaders of active breaks";

3. The school event "Live healthy and actively"                             

4. Workshops for parents and pupils to promote a healthy lifestyle

5. The regular programme promoting healthy lifestyles using digital technology;

6. Recommendations.

 

The summary of the group's work was presented by Ms Barbara Wolny, PhD, project coordinator and teacher-consultant of the PZPW Branch in Tarnobrzeg.

 

Next, Ms Synne Westeng (Norwegian trainer) discussed the work of the "Health and Nutrition" group. As part of the workshop, the participants, under her guidance, developed materials promoting the principles of healthy nutrition on the example of solutions applied in Norwegian schools. The work of headmasters and teachers has resulted in the following materials:

1. The nutrition education project entitled. "Healthy crazy";

2. Leaflets for parents on "I eat healthily - I know more";

3. The educational project entitled "It's not a diet - it's your new lifestyle".

4. The educational project entitled "It's time for a home-cooked meal".

5. Principles, advice, tips to prevent nutrition and well-being problems in children and adolescents

6 Recommendations.

 

A summary of the work of the "Health and nutrition" group was presented by Ms Mariola Kielboń, coordinator and senior inspector at the Rzeszów School Superintendent's Office. In her closing words, Krystyna Wróblewska, the Director of the PZPW in Rzeszów, stressed the importance and legitimacy of the project promoting healthy lifestyles in view of the increasing civilisation-related threats to the health of children and teenagers. At the end, the participants received certificates of participation in the training.

All materials developed during the training will be published.
